Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling den, highlights 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries aside from the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
